Can you tell us some of the specifics about your manager development programs?
Golden Hippo’s Management Program is based on the fundamentals of managing a team. Current and new managers, as well as our high potentials, are enrolled based on career path discussions they have had with their immediate managers. Once in the program, participants have opportunities to learn the fundamentals from L&D, learn from one another via shared experiences, and receive advice directly from a coach focused on their individual development.
How does it benefit your company to promote from within?
Promoting from within sometimes comes with a smooth transition because the newly promoted Hippo may have already been working with their managers, a mentor, or a coach to jump into the role seamlessly. Our Hippos who are promoted take the initiative early on to help lead the team and learn from their managers before being promoted, which is a positive sign of a manager in the making. The expertise of our existing Hippos is top-notch, and promoting from within means they get to share that knowledge and have a larger impact on our organization.
